…era una questione di luce e una questione di cuore, una questione tecnica e una questione di comprensione, freschezza e profondità, uno sguardo che tutto nota, tutto percorre, tutto accarezza, senza nulla turbare,spostare, forzare.
Non usava l’esposimetro per le strade di s. Lorenzo. Quella luce è sempre stata la sua. La luce in cui è nato, la luce che gli ha aperto gli occhi e lo ha appassionato alla vita. La luce che anima e custodisce questi lievi e delicati attimi, in cui la fatica di vivere sembra scompaia e rimanga per sempre la grazia delle creature.

… Quello che lui chiama “Quaderno fotografico” è una costruzione meditata. Una meditazione sulla vita umana, sulla sua durezza, la sua bellezza, la sua fatica, il suo desiderio spesso deluso, la sua allegria improvvisa. Non ci sono sentimentalismi né decorazioni, ma una calma “pietas” dello sguardo, che scopre il mondo e lo trova magnifico e terribile…

…it was a matter of light and a matter of heart, a matter of technique and a matter of understanding, freshness and depth, a gaze that sees everything, covers everything, caresses everything, but unsettles, moves and forces nothing.
He didn’t use the expose meter around the streets of San Lorenzo. That light has always been his. The light in which he was born, the light that opened his eyes and made him passionate about life. The light that animates and guards these faint and delicate moments, in which the troubles of life seem to vanish and the grace of the creatures remains forever.
